Fun activity: rock climbing

Warning: this is a non-math-related post :-).  Today I took Katie rock climbing with me for the first time (unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take a picture, but maybe next time).  First, if your kid likes climbing on things on the playground, at home, or elsewhere, this could be a great activity for them.  Katie falls into that category, so she had a great time.

Katie tried a few different routes, each one several times.  Each time she would get about a third of the way up (the wall was quite high), then looked down and say that she wants me to lower her to the ground.  I never suggested that she should go higher so that she would feel that she’s in full control.  I look forward to seeing her (literally) climb to new heights in the future!
